Feel On! – An iPhone App Shows Your Tweet-motions in Manga

Have you ever dreamed about getting better ways to convert your emotions via twitter? Are you experiencing a hard time figuring out the feelings behind a tweet? With this new iPhone app called “Feel on!“, view the Twitter-motions of the tweet and also see it in manga format. For example, if you tweet includes words such as “I am pissed…”, it associates an angry face with the tweet.

The iPhone app, created by a five developer Japanese company called L is B (Life is Beautiful), includes a proprietary system that identifies users’ emotions into eight different categories such as “Love”, “Happy”, “Interest”, “Excitement”, “Sadness”, “Surprise”, “Angry“, and “Other.” By analyzing the emotion, the system assigns an appropriate manga illustration on the tweet accordingly.

Although the app converts your whole timeline into fun-to-read manga comic made of your friends’ tweets, make no mistake, this app is not just another Japanese app with cute visuals.  It does include serious social science technology behind it. Here are some of them:

Tweet Stripe:

The company developed a system called “Social Emotion Engine.” It identifies key phrases in the tweet to figure out the user’s emotions. Each emotion has designated color associated, and by sliding through the colored stripe of a user, you can get a gauge on their emotions.

Comic “Manga” Mode:

Your tweets appears in comic or manga style spoken by the main character “Simon.” The tweets will be analyzed by the system and visually represented for better communication.

Normal Mode:

The app comes with a standard Twitter timeline where you could use it just like your favorite twitter mobile app.  Instead of manga faces, the emotion of the tweets appear as color stripes on the right side of the screen.

Shake mode-change:

You can go back-and-forth between the Comic and Normal mode by shaking your iPhone. The visual ripple effects you get when you shake it looks entertaining.

Comic Tweet:

When you tweet out, the app detects your emotion and gives you a selection of pictures. Just by selecting the one you pick, your tweets would look a lot more exciting to your followers who use the app.

Coming soon to the U.S.

Even though we really love the app and would be thrilled to have everyone try it, it still is only available in the Japanese market. Don’t worry though, L is B (Life is Beautiful)informed us that they are currently in the process of localizing it for the U.S. market and should be available for download for free at the end of May or early June. Stay Tuned!
